Dear, Dear Lilly Katherine

Preston asked me who my Elementary School teachers were.  I was listing them off for him, and when i got to 5th Grade I said, “Daddy and I both had Mrs. Roach for 5th Grade.”

.

Lilly Katherine thought for just a second, in a very “you’ve-lost-your-mind-Mama” kind of voice she said, “Her name was Mrs. ROACH?”

.

I said, “Yes, baby, her name was Mrs. Roach.”

.

To which her response (with great enthusiasm and expression) was, “That’s silly because a roach isn’t a name, a roach is a VEGETABLE!”

.

How do I even respond to that?  My 4 year old thinks roaches are vegetables.  I tried to tell her roaches are ugly nasty bugs, but I don’t think she believed me.

.

The next day I just wanted to see what LK would say, so I said, “Hey, Lilly Katherine, what’s a roach?”

.

Her response, “A vegetable…No, it’s a fruit!” (said in a very proud voice, because she corrected herself with the right answer)

.

I think my baby girl might be a little bit of a fruit.  At least she’s cute…and keeps us all laughing! :)
