Oh Mexico!

Last week Brad and I had the amazing opportunity to go to Cabo with 4 of our dearest friends!  We had a blast reminiscing about college, talking about our crazy children and our lives now, racing golf carts, eating, playing, swimming and hanging out!  I am posting 4 million pictures, but it was too much fun to leave anything out.

Thank you Kim and Aaron for the trip of a lifetime!  This will probably be Cletus the Fetus’ only trip to the One and Only! :)

This is Club 96 overlooking the ocean – where we hung out most of the time.

Our first night in Cabo, Mia’s crew came to our condo and cooked a FEAST for us.  It was my most favorite meal!

The One and Only Palmilla, an amazing resort!

The Crew…Aaron, Kimberly, Kristin, Keith, Me, and Brad heading to dinner at the One and Only Palmilla.

Kristin and Keith

We were talking about the huge waves.  They don’t look that large in the pictures, but trust me they were huge and the undertow was FIERCE!

This picture cracks me up.  It is one of the few that shows the huge waves…and Keith’s surprise.

Our method of transportation for the week.

The pool at Club 96 that looks like it spills into the ocean.  Amazing view!

Thursday we took a little tiny boat over HUGE waves to board onto a catamaran. (I was nervous, to say the least.  Ok, I was praying for dear life!)

The boys and Kristin in the little boat, with the catamaran in the background.

This picture says it best.  Kim and I were nervous because we had heard one of the locals talking about the “grande olas” (the BIG WAVES) and there was a news station filming the waves.  These guys were trying to make us feel better, but I could see our little boat heading out over some very GRANDE OLAS!

Our catamaran.

The first half of the trip was SO rough, and the 10 foot waves had me hugging a trashcan, literally.  That’s right. Glad we have a photo of that!

The trip home was much smoother and much more enjoyable.  It is an adventure we’ll never forget.

Keith…

The view of The One and Only Palmilla and our condo from the catamaran.

We survived…and even had fun! :)

My sweet hubby relaxing (Keith, I included this picture for you!)

“Our” table at Club 96.  Soaking wet from the pool, we inhaled our choice meal of the week, delicious fresh caught fish-o-the-day fish tacos.

The boys Kayaking

For the record, I did get in the water.  This is proof!  I swam for a few minutes, and the water was crystal clear and wonderful.

We rode our little golf cart to the tip top of the “mountain” where we were staying, which happened to be where Michael Dell’s house is located.  We took a few pics from the landing above his house.  Breathtaking views!

Kim and Aaron

We went into town to buy goodies for all our maniacs.

Then we ate at The Office, a crazy little restaurant ON the beach.  It was very different and fun!

The crew and PREM! :)What a wonderful vacation.  Thank you Aaron and Kim.  We had a blast with all of you, and we miss you already!  We miss Cabo already, too! :)

  2. […] We love vacations and adult only vacations hold an extra special place in our hearts… we missed our boys but a little R&R was what we needed.  Saying we had a wonderful time in Cabo is an under statement.  It was wonderful!!!  We went with couples that have been some of our best friends since college.  We had a great time hanging out and relaxing…. The great thing was that it was the “off-season” where we were, which meant we were waited on hand and foot because nobody else was around to wait on.  We stayed at a fabulous house on the Palmilla property and had access to an exclusive members only club where we ate lunch, enjoyed the pool, ate dinner…. I loved waking up every morning and going to workout with Keith.  We NEVER get to workout together so that was fun!  One day Keith and I took a hike up a huge hill.  The view was amazing and Michael Dell (of Dell computers) house was at the top.  It was gorgeous and his house looks out onto the ocean where the Sea of Cortez and Pacific meet.  The One and Only Palmilla is located directly below the Dell house… it’s just gorgeous!  Our anniversary was celebrated at Agua at the One and Only with our sweet friends.  It was yummy food but my favorite part (that made me laugh out loud) was they brought a cute little chair for my purse.  Really?!  …a little over the top but made for a good laugh.  We enjoyed the beach and one day we took a catamaran for 4 hours.  It was definitely a high light for us.  I wish I would have taken dramamine an hour before we got on the boat because the water was SUPER rough (10-15 food waves) and I had to focus on “mountains in the distance” for the first 45 minutes…. but after that we were all having fun and feeling better.  Getting out to the catamaran was an experience.  They made us all get in this tiny boat…. and the waves were huge.  We were told the guy driving the tiny boat knew the patterns of the ocean like the back of his hand… and we would be fine.  We were fine but there was a point when we really thought we may not make it and I was praying I could swim as far as I might need to.  The trip was so much fun!  We enjoyed time away from the kids but missed them a lot! …get ready, so many pictures: Kate also did a great post.  You can see more about our trip HERE.
