Pooh and Blueberries!

Pooh and Blueberries sounds like a gross title, but I’m referring to WINNIE the POOH! :)

Although, I have to say that blueberry diapers are the worst!…anyway…All you moms know exactly what I’m talking about!

Moving on…

Last week I had a birthday.  I’m not exactly thrilled about having birthdays at this point in my life, although I know I should thank the Lord for every breath he allows me to take.  I just wish I could hold my breath at 29. :)

We had a little get-together with friends, and I’ll post pics from that (hopefully) tomorrow.

One of the things I wanted most for my birthday was for our whole family to go see Winnie the Pooh.  We went with our wonderful new friends, Pike, Andria, Nash, and Drew.  Sweet Andria had us stocked with all the sugar we could dream of, and we got a tub of popcorn and a coke on top of that.  You would have thought Pinky was in HEAVEN!  She just jumped from one goodie to the next.  This was her first movie, so I was just happy she was happy!

The movie was precious, and the kids all loved it.

Preston and Nash loved it so much they were planning their next movie, Smurfs.  We’ll see!

Picking Blueberries…

We have picked blueberries every summer since Preston was 18 months old.  Here are a few pics from last year.  Blueberry picking is one of our most favorite traditions.  Prime picking season in East Texas is late May-June.

We went last week…mid-July!

The berries were small but still so sweet.  Unfortunately it was at a million degrees outside, so we couldn’t stay too long.  We went with Andria, Nash, and Drew.

This is our before pic…(taken with an iphone)

Andria and I worked hard picking food for our families. :)  The kids worked hard eating every berry they could get their hands on.  That’s the beauty of berry picking!

The girls found the irrigation system and decided they would much rather drench themselves with water than pick berries.  They spent the rest of the time “washing” their berries and eating them.  Again, I was just happy they were happy.

Sweet and sweaty Drew and AnnaLeigh had to have a little sucker break in the shade of a blueberry bush (tree?)

DONE!  They were so hot.  I was so hot, but it really was fun!  There’s nothing better than fresh summer berries.

Next year we’ll go earlier.

What am I thinking?!?!

Next year I’ll have a newborn!!! :)

Andria reminded us we needed to read Blueberries for Sal, one of my maniacs most favorite books (Thank you, Mary Lynne!)

Of course I forgot to read it that day, but Preston remembered the next day and asked if I would read it to them.  While the kids were waiting on me to get to their room, Preston took it upon himself to read to the girls.  I thought this was a precious moment!  I’m sure they were fighting before and after Preston read the book, but this second in time was a sweet, still, priceless moment!

I’m so thankful my babies have each other…fights, hugs, giggles, punches, apologies, and all!

I’m so glad you’re posting again!

Ok, so I’ve been considering the berry picking with my kids, but it just seems like a beating! Is it actually fun or fun in that way where it’s such a good memory for the kids that you’ll deal with it? Also, how long do you actually stay?
