Target and Sponge Rollers

Hi!  I am aware that I have this little thing called a blog!  I want to spend time posting pics and updates about our lives on here, but I’ve been trying to survive lately.  I’ve taken very few pics, not because we haven’t been constantly doing things, but because I’m doing good to make it through the day…much less photograph the effort.

As of yesterday, I’m feeling better.  I thank the LORD that this first trimester mess seems to be passing, and I just pray for the safety and health of this little baby growing in my belly!  As horrible as the nausea is, it is strangely comforting.  As long as I’m sick, I feel like everything must be going well in there.  As soon as I wake up feeling more “normal,” I start worrying that something must be wrong.  That’s called a great big lack-o-faith!  I’ve tried to focus on praying for “Cletus the fetus” instead of fretting.  I know I should just be thankful that I was able to cook for my family last night…and I was even able to eat what I cooked!  PTL!!!

On a totally different note…

I went to Target today with THREE MANIACS!  It was NOT A GOOD DECISION!  They were apparently starving at 10:30 this morning, and I just needed to pick up 4 things…toilet paper, toothpaste, toothbrush, pledge dusters.  4 things.  That’s all!  It was painful.  I got many looks from women who have obviously forgotten what it’s like to take 3 maniacs into a store (Lord, help me to not be one of those mean old ladies!)  We made it.  That’s all I will say about that.

However, on my wonderful, long-overdue trip to Target a few weeks ago, I found myself on the hair clip aisle.  The pink sponge rollers caught my eye as I was wondering if my girls would like something like that.  Then I noticed these Mega Self Grip Hair Rollers, and I decided I might need them.  I usually don’t buy random things when I shop, but I have got to figure out something to do with this mop on my head!  I wear it in a pony tail every day because I’m too lazy to straighten it, and I feel a little “80’s-ish” wearing it curly all the time.  So, it just ends up in a pony or a bun….every.day!

Well, I spotted these little Conair beauties and had no idea what to do with them, but wanted to give them a try.

I haven’t rolled my hair in 100 years, so I really had no idea what I was doing.  I just put my hair in rollers while it was wet, to see if I could avoid drying/straightening/curling.  I used little alligator clips just to secure it, because I did use a hair dryer a little.

Purty ain’t it!

This was the result.  Again, not a clue what I was doing!  Here’s what it looked like straight out of rollers.  I think i shook it out.  Can’t remember.  Sorry.

And this is 5 hours later.  Didn’t do anything else to it.  I’m lazy like that! :)  Sorry for the weird color.

Yes, I know I look like a total TOOL taking pics of myself, but I wanted to show you my new “sponge” rollers!  Go early 90’s!!!

So that’s it.  I’m back.  Hope to have many more posts and recipes now that I’ve entered the real world again!  There will probably not be any more self-photographs of my head.  I’m sure you’re devastated.

Happy Friday!!!  I’ll be enjoying a fresh hot Shipley’s apple fritter and a McDonald’s coffee in a few short hours.  Nighty night!

Ok, so I’m totally interested….even obsessing now about hair rollers. Here’s my question – how long did you wear them before taking them out? Until they were dry? I think you and I have the same texture of hair, so I feel like I’d have a similar result. I hope!

I want to know, too! How long did you blow dry and how long did you leave them in? I love it!

I hope that when I hit “reply” in answer to your question, you will get it, but I’m not sure if you will, so here goes. I put them in when my hair was wet, and I left them in until it was dry. I needed to speed up the process at the end, bc I have SO much hair that it was taking a long time to dry naturally. I just hit each roller for a second with the hair dryer. I’m sure I didn’t take them out correctly, because they kind of stick to your hair like velcro. I’m sure there’s a right and wrong way to take them out, but I just took them out, turned over, shook my hair out, and went with it. :) glad y’all like it. I have only done it that one time and I need to do it again.
