Friday Fav #21-Miscellaneous

Random Friday thoughts.

Here are several random Favs from the week I figured I would post as one big Fri Fav!

Fav Comment by a Stranger: After this incident, I ran home, bathed and changed AnnaLeigh and then we ran a few more errands.  As AnnaLeigh was FREAKING out in a store, throwing a HUGE temper tantrum, I was doing my best to speak calmly to her (while gently threatening her life.)  I tried to get her to settle down, and I was wildly unsuccessful.  I finally paid for my items, bent down and whispered to her that because of her behavior she was going to get a spankin’ at the car.

She lost it.

A lovely older lady ahead of me (who is obviously not raising a 2 year old anymore) turned around and announced, “Looks like she needs her grandmother.”  I just sighed, gave a very tired (slightly annoyed) smile, and said, “Wouldn’t that be nice.”  Then she looked at AnnaLeigh, who was still on the ground, and said, “Call your grandmother, honey.”  I just had to pick my flailing child up and walk away.

If you’re reading this and you are past the tantrum stage, please be sympathetic to those of us that are not.  Please remember how long and hard the days sometimes are.  Yes, they’re filled with joy and I wouldn’t trade being at home with these maniacs for all the money in the world, but some days are a challenge.  Lord, help me to have a FILTER when I get out of this stage of life!

Fav Quote from a Maniac: I was talking to AnnaLeigh about her behavior one night before bed.  The conversation went something like this:

Me:  “Baby, do you think you obeyed Mama today?”

A:  “No ma’am.”

Me:  “Were you respectful today?”

A:  “No ma’am.”

Me:  “Were you kind to Mama today?”

A:  “No ma’am.”

Me:  (almost in tears) “Baby, you can’t continue to act this way.  What are we going to do about this?”

A:  (With a HUGE smile on her face as if she has the perfect answer) “Get a little God!”

Me:  “Yes!  That’s exactly what we need!  A little, no, a LOT of God!!!”

Fav Sam Moment: I begged to get a dog.  Brad finally conceded and we got this pound puppy.  Most days he makes me crazy!  Sam is a sweet dog, but he’s still a dog.  I guess I’ve learned I’m not much of a dog person.  My kids love him, and he’s so sweet to them.  This week, he jumped off the couch, grabbed this monkey, pulled it in his bed, and snuggled with it.  It was the cutest thing ever!

Fav Coupon Code: Remember this Friday Fav?  Well, Gracie Belle Bows has a great coupon code this week for 20% off your entire purchase.  Enter the code 20off to receive the discount.  If you need bows, this is THE PLACE to order them!

Fav Selfless Act: My sweet husband is an early riser to say the least.  He wakes up at 4:00 am most mornings.  It’s truly unbelievable.  It’s always been a joke in our house that our lights are only off 2-3 hours a night.  I go to bed at 2, and he’s up at 4.  Well, my sweet 75 year old husband (that’s what his sleeping habits are like) has been just as messed up as the kids by Daylight Savings Time.  He woke up at his regular time Monday and Tuesday, which is 3:00 am now.  For some strange reason he absolutely cannot go back to sleep.  Well, I’m thankful he used his extra time so wisely and folded about 5 loads of clothes that were on our couch (that his wife had been too lazy to fold).  I woke up and decided I would fold them so my family could actually sit in our den, and to my surprise they were already folded.  It was a Christmas miracle!  I love my sweet husband!  I hate laundry!  It was a wonderful surprise!

Fav new food of the week: Meredith made these wonderful little apple pies.  I need to try them, and I’ll post the recipe when I do.  They were so so yummy, and a nice little treat.

Fav Person to Protect our Freedom: This is my little brother, Taylor.

He served our country for 8 years in the Air Force, overseas a great portion of that time.

Thank a Veteran today.

If you don’t have one in your family, find one to thank.  You have NO IDEA how much they give up to serve our great nation…how much they sacrifice, and they deserve our praise!  Thank you, brother!  I have missed you a lot this week, and I have tears in my eyes as I type for some reason.  We’ll blame it on the pregnancy (or on mama!)

I love you!  I’m proud of you!  I thank you!

Happy Veterans Day!
