Today was a great day!\u00a0 I’ve been trying to be productive.\u00a0 It’s a new thing for me!<\/span><\/h3>\n

.<\/span><\/h3>\n

The Lord is teaching me some valuable lessons this year through BSF (Bible Study Fellowship).\u00a0 Every year I have different convictions, but this year I am actually going to try to act on my convictions.\u00a0 (SHOCKING!\u00a0 I think that’s WHY the Holy Spirit CONVICTS us!\u00a0 I’m a little slow at times!)<\/span><\/h3>\n

.<\/span><\/h3>\n

I was very convicted that television needed to go…temporarily.\u00a0 However, I have really enjoyed not having TV in my life the past few weeks.\u00a0 I have decided to continue with my New Year’s Resolution to give up that great big TIME SPONGE and I would encourage you to give it a try.
\n<\/span><\/h3>\n

.<\/span><\/h3>\n

I have also started to realize that so much of what I do in these early years shapes <\/span><\/h3>\n

THE REST OF MY KIDS’ LIVES! <\/span><\/h2>\n

Talk about pressure!\u00a0 I am far from the perfect mother…in fact just typing that is laughable! (haha!)\u00a0 But I do love these little maniacs and I want the very best for them! One day they will have kids (which would make me a grandmother, and the thought of that stresses me out, but…) they will either blame their mistakes on me or they will realize I loved them, prayed for them, taught them, and trained them with Godly wisdom and discernment.<\/span><\/h3>\n

.<\/span><\/p>\n

A verse we studied today at BSF was Isaiah 40:6-8<\/span><\/h3>\n

\n<\/span><\/p>\n

“All people are like grass, <\/span><\/h3>\n

and all their faithfulness is like the flowers of the field.<\/span><\/h3>\n

The Grass withers and the flowers fall, <\/span><\/h3>\n

because the breath of the LORD blows on them. <\/span><\/h3>\n

Surely people are grass.<\/span><\/h3>\n

The grass withers and the flowers fall, <\/span><\/h3>\n

but the word of our God endures forever.”<\/span><\/h3>\n

.<\/span><\/h3>\n

I am a very visual person.\u00a0 This is how I read this verse…<\/span><\/h3>\n

We are all like the grass. <\/span><\/h3>\n

.<\/span><\/h3>\n

We might be grass that is starved of nutrients and sunlight (the WORD of God) and we will still grow, but we won’t thrive.\u00a0 We will be weak, puny, unproductive, and leave behind few seeds.\u00a0 We will wither and die and leave very little to this earth.
\n<\/span><\/h3>\n

.<\/span><\/h3>\n

Or we could be beautiful, lush, thick, green grass that is fertilized, watered, and in full sun (reading, memorizing, studying, living the WORD of God).\u00a0 We will be strong, producing many flowers of faithfulness.\u00a0 They will be beautiful and healthy, releasing many seeds to the earth.\u00a0 Even the strong, nurtured flowers and grass will die, but they will leave behind many healthy seeds. <\/span><\/h3>\n

.<\/span><\/h3>\n

Only God is eternal, but our actions do make a difference FOR GENERATIONS! <\/span><\/h3>\n

I am learning over and over this year that there are several things I need to be doing with my babies…planting seeds in their little hearts…and strengthening mine!
\n<\/span><\/h3>\n

*Scripture Memory<\/span><\/h3>\n

.<\/span><\/h3>\n

*Bible Time as a family.\u00a0 We have always read a short Bible story before bedtime, but since Preston has been in all-day school, we’ve gotten lax because we want him in bed on time.\u00a0\u00a0 (again, priorities!)<\/span><\/h3>\n

.<\/span><\/h3>\n

*Praying about issues as they arise.\u00a0 Praying together as a family.\u00a0 Allowing my babies to see my prayers about them as individuals.<\/span><\/h3>\n

.<\/span><\/h3>\n

*Keeping my Bible open so they see that it is important to me to read God’s Word!<\/span><\/h3>\n

\n<\/span><\/h3>\n

We are so temporary.\u00a0 The Lord is so constant, permanent, ETERNAL!\u00a0 I need to be focussing on things that are ETERNAL!\u00a0 I guess that means that for now, Cupcake Wars, Everybody Loves Raymond, The Office, and The Real Housewives would probably not fall into that category.<\/span><\/h3>\n

.<\/span><\/h3>\n

This post may seem like a long ramble, and it kind-of is.\u00a0 I just want to document my thoughts, let this be a reminder to myself, and and encouragement to other moms and dads to focus ETERNALLY.\u00a0 For our sake, for our kids’ sakes, for their kids’ sakes.\u00a0 What we do now won’t last forever, but it will effect forever!<\/span><\/h3>\n
