I love to make cupcakes, cakes, or sometimes just icing.\u00a0 It’s so easy to make icing and it tastes so much better than store bought icing.\u00a0 I have also used marshmallow fondant to make cakes, but there’s just nothing better than plain old buttercream icing.<\/span><\/h3>\n

Recipe<\/span><\/h3>\n

1 Cup Crisco (1 stick)<\/span><\/h3>\n

1 Cup Butter (2 sticks) at room temp<\/span><\/h3>\n

1 Bag Powdered Sugar (2 lbs)<\/span><\/h3>\n

1\/4 Cup Milk<\/span><\/h3>\n

1\/8 tsp Salt (or just use a Pinch of Salt)<\/span><\/h3>\n

1 1\/2 tsp Vanilla Extract (use clear vanilla if you want the icing to be white)<\/span><\/h3>\n

1 tsp Almond Extract<\/span><\/h3>\n

Cream Butter and Crisco together with a mixer.\u00a0 Add the bag of powdered sugar, salt, and milk.\u00a0 You may want more or less milk depending on the consistency you desire.\u00a0 (Also, I place a sheet of Saran Wrap around the top of the bowl so the powdered sugar doesn’t produce a billowing cloud in my kitchen.) Add the vanilla and almond extract and mix for about 20 seconds, scraping bowl.\u00a0 I like it to get a little fluffy.\u00a0 Taste it, of course.\u00a0 Taste it again.\u00a0 Maybe again.\u00a0 You want to make sure it’s right.\u00a0 It is the icing on the cake!<\/span><\/h3>\n
