<\/a>Preston had strep Thursday and Friday, which made for a sad little man.\u00a0 He didn’t get to play his baseball game Friday night, which made for a much sadder little man.\u00a0 However, since he didn’t get to play, I promised him a treat, and we went to the newly opened TCBY for dessert.\u00a0 YAY!!!\u00a0 I have missed this place, craved it, and I have made my sweet hubby drive many miles out of the way to find TCBY stores that our navigation system says are open…only to find an empty shell of a TCBY.\u00a0 I’m so thankful we have one again!\u00a0 I could eat my weight in white chocolate mousse!<\/span><\/p>\nWhile we were there, we ran into Mere and her crew<\/a>…along with 4,000 other people we know, and I was as gross as I could be.\u00a0 Oh well. :)<\/p>\n .<\/p>\n On another note, please look at this poor dog…just minding his own business Friday evening.<\/p>\n .<\/p>\n Saturday evening we went to a Chris August concert at the outdoor amphitheater at our church.\u00a0 The weather was amazing.\u00a0 The music was wonderful.\u00a0 Our family and friends at the concert made the night even better!\u00a0 I love the sweet people that make our church, our church!<\/p>\n This is the back view of the amphitheater…overlooking the water.\u00a0 It’s just beautiful.<\/p>\n .<\/p>\n So after the concert, we put our very exhausted maniacs in bed and I started scouring the kitchen for something to satisfy my hunger.\u00a0 Have you heard the nursery rhyme that goes like this,<\/p>\n “There was a little girl, who had a little curl<\/p>\n in the middle of her forehead.<\/span><\/p>\n When she was good, she was very, very good,<\/p>\n But when she was bad, she was horrid.”<\/p>\n Well, that poem describes Lilly Katherine to a T, but it also describes me…of course.\u00a0 AND, it describes my eating habits.\u00a0 When I go to the grocery store, plan meals for my family, take the time to prepare, we eat really well.\u00a0 When I don’t, I eat very, very poorly…like I did Saturday night (and all of last week).<\/p>\n My meal Saturday night…<\/p>\n First course: Powdered Donuts<\/p>\n Main course: Ball park nacho cheese sauce with (Multi-grain) Chips.\u00a0 By the way, this yellow stuff is so fake that it would probably last til the Lord comes back…right Leigh?\u00a0 Leigh Oliver’s<\/a> Queso is so much better, but this was leftover from Preston’s party…and that’s what I grabbed.<\/span><\/p>\n Dessert: Road Tar (recipe below)<\/p>\n .<\/p>\n That being said, we do still have some road tar in the freezer, and I do plan on polishing it off.\u00a0 I’m sure you’ve noticed that I make really healthy meals and really bad desserts.\u00a0 I figure they balance each other out, and I truly enjoy eating.\u00a0 Anything!<\/p>\n Road Tar.\u00a0 This is a dessert I have loved since middle school.\u00a0 It’s much more appropriate for a Youth Group event rather than a dinner party, but I had limited time, so this is what I made.\u00a0 It’s so easy…and so good!<\/p>\n Full recipe below.<\/p>\n Ingredients:<\/p>\n Start by crushing the Oreos.\u00a0 You can put them in a food processor if you like the crumbs fine.\u00a0 I just stuck them in a plastic bag and beat them to death. <\/span><\/p>\n Next, crush the Butterfingers.\u00a0 I like to crush them in the unopened package to reduce the mess.\u00a0 Just pinch them or mash them on the counter top.<\/p>\n Add the entire carton of Ice Cream.\u00a0 I used Vanilla Bean this time, but next time I think I’ll use Cookies and Cream…just to add a little extra to it. (as if it needs a little extra added to it) :)<\/p>\n I think you are supposed to use a clean fork to take pics like this, but I stole a bite before I took the pic.\u00a0 Oh well, next time I’ll take the picture first…or get another fork.<\/p>\n Licking the wooden spoon.<\/p>\n Ingredients:<\/p>\n Crush the Oreos<\/span>, Crush the Butterfingers.\u00a0 Combine Oreos<\/span>, Butterfinger<\/span>, and softened Butter.\u00a0 Layer half of the crumb mixture in a 9X13 casserole dish.\u00a0 Press.\u00a0 Spread softened Ice Cream on top of the crumb mixture.\u00a0 Layer the remaining crumb mixture on top of Ice Cream.\u00a0 Cover and put in freezer for several hours before serving.\u00a0 Remove from freezer 5 minutes before serving.<\/span><\/p>\n .<\/p>\n Have a lovely Monday!<\/p>\n .<\/p>\n \n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" NOTE:\u00a0 Every pic from this post was taken with my iPhone, so the quality is not great. (I took the pic so fast, I cut her head off.) :)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/a>Little maniac!<\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a>During the concert, AnnaLeigh<\/span> spotted her Sunday School teacher, Miss Jennifer (a.k.a. “Je-be-je<\/span>–ber<\/span>“).\u00a0 She literally did a front flip over Brad’s leg trying to get a better view of Je-be-je<\/span>–ber<\/span>, and so I told her she could run say “hi” to her.\u00a0 She took off…and didn’t want to come back.\u00a0 I finally had to take her picnic dinner to her, so she could eat with Je-be-je<\/span>–ber<\/span> instead of me.\u00a0 Sidenote<\/span>:\u00a0 Ben and Je-be-je<\/span>–ber<\/span> are expecting their first baby in the fall…YAY!!!<\/span><\/p>\n<\/a>My maniacs had so much fun running around after the concert.<\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a>I was trying to take a picture of LK, AnnaLeigh<\/span>, and Truett<\/span> (my nephew), but the little maniacs were acting rotten.\u00a0 LK was posing for the pic, but AnnaLeigh<\/span> and Truett<\/span> were saying, “Backy<\/span> up.\u00a0 Backy<\/span> up” as they walked backwards to get out of the photo-op.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a>Good times!<\/p>\n<\/a>My point…yes, there is a point.\u00a0 I actually went to the grocery store today, and I am going to cook real food for my people this week…not just grab pizza or Chick-fil<\/span>-A for every meal.\u00a0 I have found that the busier I am, the junkier I\/we eat.\u00a0 The above “meal” is a prime example.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/a>Leave your ice cream out while you’re preparing the rest of the ingredients.\u00a0 It needs to be soft and spreadable.<\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a>In a large bowl, add the Oreos<\/span>, Butterfinger<\/span>, and a stick of softened butter.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/a>Mix.\u00a0 I had to use my hands because I get impatient mixing with a spoon.<\/p>\n<\/a>Layer half of the Oreo\/Butterfinger<\/span> crumb mixture in a 9X13 casserole dish.\u00a0 Pat down to form a crust.\u00a0 Can you tell why it’s called Road Tar?\u00a0 Yum!<\/span><\/p>\n<\/a>Sorry the picture quality isn’t great.\u00a0 I wasn’t at home, so these are phone pics.<\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a>Finally, add the second half of your crumb mixture.<\/p>\n<\/a>Then cover and put it in the freezer for several hours.\u00a0 Take it out of the freezer 5 minutes before serving so it can soften enough to cut it.<\/p>\n<\/a>So, while I was making this yummy recipe, where was my helper you ask?\u00a0 She was right there beside me.\u00a0 Enjoying the process.<\/p>\n<\/a>Then moving to a regular spoon.<\/p>\n<\/a>Then…getting smart.\u00a0 That’s my girl!<\/p>\n<\/a>Road Tar Recipe<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n
